A native of Florida and a Boston PR veteran, Tom enjoys live music, working on old houses and cars, writing, karaoke, and spending time with friends, family, and his eternally curious dog, Woody.

Obsidian founder Tom Keppeler has helped define the voices of some of the world’s brightest stars in healthcare, technology, and nonprofits. His passion lies in the intersection of research and care and personal stories of triumph.

One of Tom’s core strengths is helping organizations distill complex topics into easily understood, creative material. “That’s what I do,” he says.

With nearly 25 years of professional communications and executive coaching experience, Tom Keppeler (he/him) is a professional coach, communicator, and executive. Trained as a journalist, Tom brings a reporter’s sense of narrative to every facet of his work to help clients tell better stories – both about themselves and to themselves, as well as to audiences large and small.

Along the way, he has worked with some exceptional mentors, who taught him how to unleash creativity, tell compelling stories, and create results that move audiences.

He has managed major corporate crises, product launches, mergers, and acquisitions, and has overseen complete rebranding efforts. His work includes video testimonials, groundbreaking internal communication initiatives, and social and employee advocacy campaigns that get results.

He holds a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University, where he was a National Merit Scholar and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

As a coach, Tom has prepared executives to lead audiences from stages both virtual and actual. He has prepared major sports figures to share open and vulnerable stories about their journeys. He has worked with a former U.S. president, chief executives, and some of the world’s leading scientific minds. He has helped middle managers develop into go-to spokespeople and prepared Fortune 500 executive leaders for hostile interviews.
